Basically, our English teacher told us to get a book/anthology/play for wider reading. We've already covered Journey's End and Accrington Pals (both plays) so I wanna read a novel.
I was thinking of Birdsong but I want to know more suggestions.
By the way, we are doing Regeneration in my other Eng Lit class for coursework so no point doing that.

    Any ideas?

i was passed a bunch of novels last lesson...
Ernest Hemingway- A farewell to arms
    Susan Hill- Strange Meeting
All Quiet on the Western Front
    Faulkes (sp??) - Birdsong

Also we are doing a load of First world war poetry
++ from the Penguin anthology of first world war poetry

and i suggest you have a look at
Contexts in literarture - The Great War In British Literature - Adrian Barlow (published by Cambridge, endorsed by OCR but useful for all)

Will you be tempted to trade up and get out of your firm offer on results day?
