What are your thoughts about group submissions for summative assessments and being marked as a group meaning students receive the same mark as everyone in the group?*Do students learn better when they do group projects?

Some unis do this well by having part of the mark for 'contribution' so it penalises anyone who doesn't do much.

In a job you have to be able to work in a team so I think it's a good idea.

You are right there, I don’t mind helping and even doing the work for someone who cannot do it, but it doesn’t feel right when you see people who do not care.

And right there the university is doing its job. Students get upset about group work being unfair and some people not pulling their weight. The learning outcome is not the marks however, it's all about understanding what working with others is like ( good and bad ) because you will probably spend most of your life doing that.

That’s for sure! And how hard it is to put different people wanting all different things together. Taking the lead sometimes means doing the work.
