# Statistical distribution question!!

im so stuck on this question... HELP!

a fair 5-sided spinner has sectors numbered from 1-5.
spinner is spun and the number showing (X) is recorded.

a) state distribution of X

the spinner is spun 4 times and the number of spins taken to get an off number (Y) is recorded.

b) write down, in table form, the probability distribution of Y
c) find P(Y>2)

What are your thoughts? For part a), the key word is "fair".

Can you clarify what "number of spins taken to get an off number (Y)" means? I don't understand it.

Perhaps it's a typo for "odd".

The aim of this forum is not to give you answers but to help you work it out yourself. Can you give us your thoughts?

For part b), can you tell us the probability of getting an odd number on the first spin?

For (a) Do you understand the notation of eg

p(X=x) = ..... for x=1, ......etc ?
