I started a job 3 months ago as that’s when the shop opened. I’m contracted to work 16hrs a week which works out to be roughly 3-4 days a week.

However, as of recently, my manager has been putting me on for up to 5-6 days a week. Totalling around 27hrs. I was okay doing one week like that as 2 people had left so he was short staffed but now college has finished I want time for myself. So I don’t want to keep doing 5-6 days a week.

What exactly should I say to him in person as I’m not very good at speaking up for myself so I need a sort of script to follow to make him understand that I’m happy to help SOMETIMES when he needs it but he needs to ask me if I can first. And that I would like to work 16hrs a week.

Any help appreciated

Be polite. Perhaps threaten to leave.
