Bangor University Clearing 2022

Hi all

If you haven’t already applied for this September, or are concerned you may not get the results needed for your chosen university, then we’d be happy to offer you help and advice about Clearing.

We’re here to help and support you over the next few weeks so please don’t be nervous or worried about asking any questions.

For instance, you may not even be sure what’s meant by the term ‘Clearing’ or when does it actually start read on for more details…

What is Clearing and who is it for?

Basically, Clearing is a process which gives those who are yet to find a place a chance to apply for university places that are yet to be filled. It’s a means for those who are yet to make any application to find a place for this September, and it’s also the way that those who change their minds, or don’t get the grades for their first choice, can find another university course for the coming academic year. Each year thousands of applicants find a place at university through the Clearing route.

You could be in Clearing for one of the following reasons:

You have not yet applied to any university and wish to apply through Clearing.

On results day, you do not meet the requirements of your firm or insurance choice university.

On results day, you have met the requirements of your firm or insurance choice university but have changed your mind about going to either of them. In which case you would need to ‘release yourself in to Clearing’.

We’ll be updating this thread regularly with more information about Clearing and feel free to ask any questions you may have on this thread too

Hi all

Clearing 2022 kicks off this week for those who already have their results.

From Tuesday, July 5:

· If you already have your results (for qualifications taken this year or in previous years) and

· if you’re not currently holding any offers

then you’ll be able to apply for a course through Clearing.

The course search on the UCAS website will show you which courses have Clearing places available, and most universities will provide information about courses available through Clearing on their own

websites. The UCAS website has plenty of information on how to apply through Clearing at https://www.ucas.com/undergraduate/results-confirmation-and-clearing/what-clearing

Still waiting for results?

Even if you’re waiting for your results, it’s not too early to start thinking about your Clearing options.

If you are re-considering your choices or worried you may be in Clearing come Results Day, then now’s the time to start planning for Clearing.

Start by considering which subject areas you’re interested in, and which universities offer courses in those areas. You may be considering courses that are different to those you originally applied for, and you may need to consider different universities to those you’d originally shortlisted. Read our guidance on how to find your University place through Clearing: https://www.bangor.ac.uk/clearing/research

We’ll be providing more updates and information about Clearing here please feel free to ask any questions you may have on this thread too We’re here to help in anyway we can,

Sera

Hi everyone,

Some of you may be feeling a bit anxious as A-level Results Day (Thursday, August 18) gets nearer, but please don’t worry, - there’ll be plenty of help and advice available to you whatever situation you find yourself in. In the meantime, here’s some useful advice to help you prepare for the day and the different possible scenarios.

· If possible, don’t be on holiday or at work, keep Results Day free so that you can contact universities, if you need to. Make sure that you have access to the online information that you’ll need to check course availability and Helpline numbers as well as to be able to get onto the UCAS site.

· You need to be available to speak to admissions tutors and make decisions yourself your parents, teachers and friends cannot do it for you. If you have to work that day or are away travelling / on holiday, it’s worth giving your parent/guardian nominated access to your UCAS application details so that they can speak on your behalf.

· You may not have got the grades or points score that you needed, but your Firm or Insurance choice university may still decide to accept you onto the course. Contact them first and do not just assume that you are in Clearing.

· If they decide not to accept you, or if you are not holding offers at any institution, you are eligible to apply for a place through Clearing. Applicants making applications after 30th June are automatically entered into Clearing and are also eligible.

· You’ll know that you are in Clearing if your UCAS application states ‘You are in Clearing’ or ‘Clearing has started’.

· If you are in Clearing, you must contact universities directly to enquire about available places on their courses and whether or not you meet their requirements.

· Have your UCAS application number, Clearing number, course codes, your A Level results and relevant GCSE results to hand as the staff on the Helpline will ask for these. We will also need your contact details and e-mail address in order to send you your Clearing offer in writing.

· When you pick up your results, talk to your teachers, tutors or careers advisors at school or college and speak to staff from the universities, the current students, friends and family. They may be able to suggest courses and universities that you would never have considered.

· Most universities, like Bangor University, will organise events for Clearing applicants which you should attend so that you can have a look around the university and area, collect more information about the course, speak to staff and students and decide whether or not you would be happy studying at that institution.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have. We’re here to help and support you over the next few weeks!

Sera 🙂

Whatever situation you find yourself in today, we’re here to help with advice and support about Clearing.

Some of you may have always planned to apply directly through Clearing, while others may be shocked and disappointed that things haven’t gone to plan and you’re now looking to find a place through Clearing.

The main thing to be aware of is that there’s LOADS of information and advice available to help you. UCAS is obviously a great starting point, and we’ve also got some useful tips https://www.bangor.ac.uk/clearing/tips & advice https://www.bangor.ac.uk/clearing/advice

on our website.

Best advice at this point though is don’t panic! Take your time to consider your options around which courses and universities would best suit you. Most universities will encourage you to visit and won’t put pressure on you to make a quick decision, which you may come to regret (especially as you can only add one Clearing choice at a time).

We’ve got loads of great courses available here at Bangor University and our Clearing Helpline is open today from 08:00 until 19:00 tonight!

Please get in touch if you’d like to chat about a possible place,- the number is 0800 085 1818

And remember, you can also ask me any questions on here 😊

Sera

PS If you're interested in studying at Bangor, there are several opportunities for you to visit to get a real insight into student life and familiarise yourself with the University buildings and Bangor itself. We'd love to welcome you here.
Good luck everyone and I hope if you do get a place at Bangor you really enjoy your time there
