So I took an a-level in further maths in June 2008 as a private candidate and just realised now that I was supposed to "cash in" my scores by September 19th, which I completely overlooked. Can anyone tell me how serious this is? Do all my results become null and void or do I just have to pay a bit extra?

Your grades stay in the bank. You can apply to cash in during the January exam period - contact the exams officer who took care of your original exams.
