To be fair, I haven't read the book, I've only seen the movie which I think is really brilliant if rather disturbing. I think it's my favorite Kubrick, I'd rate it higher than 2001 and The Shining, although I guess many people are going to disagree with me on that one.
Ok I hate all horror or any psychological thrillers, so The Shining is completely vile to me. ACO was ok because I read it, which allowed me a modicum of mental shielding...

The book is also amazing, although it uses a lot of russian words as 'slang', which of course I love, but may understandably irritate those who don't know the language.
No, nadsat didn't bother me, it was just a deeply unhappy book to read.

Nah the Old Library is no longer a library, it's now some hall or other where apparently they have ceilidhs :p:

And no library is as nice as hours :p: Except the ones that open longer

also are number like twenty eight hyphenated?
Technically, yes they are. But a lot of people don't hyphenate them.

What are you supposed to do with your shadow when you're working? Just let them sit and watch you?
    (Original post by Craghyrax)
This is what I'm beginning to wonder...
I chose 2 useful introductory books for my subject and gave them to my shadow when I had work to do (with a brief explanation of why I'd chosen them). It felt a bit pedagogical but they took copious notes from them whilst I was working and were pretty enthusiastic - they even noted the details so that they could get hold of them at home!

Ah.. I see. And yeh that's a fair assessment :yep: The Jerwood looks cool, but I'm only judging on what's visible from the bridge.

Yeh, aesthetically from the outside the Jerwood is the prettiest, I'll concede that much :p:

    Eek that's a brill idea!

Now I'm mildly regretting giving all my notes to West Wing and brim, on the grounds that I could have fished out some seriously cool Soc Anth reading from last year :^^:

The Old Library's quite nice, it can be a bit oppressive though, with all that dark wood. Excellent for ceilidhs mind, the one we had in Freshers was one of the high points of the week!

Its already clean. I don't trust other people with my laundry.
So the Emma offer wouldn't help me that much.

This is because they don't make 80% of men's clothing with fabrics that have to be dry cleaned or handwashed :>.<:
