Moving to an another government department but not the same pension on offer

Basically I been offered a new job, I will be on the same money as I am now as it is a higher grade and I am currently based in London. After reading the contract I will have to start a new pension scheme with the new government body. I joined the civil service to build up a decent pension. Is this a reason to not join?
