Hiii,
Honestly don’t sweat it! You can still meet people and join societies in 2nd year. My advice would be to join the societies you’re interested in and go to their events, that’s how you meet people. I did psychology in my undergrad and honestly it felt like I didn’t have time to socialise aha.
If you don’t mind me asking, what societies are you interested in joining and what uni do you go to?

I joined a sport while at the university and each year we had a lot of students who would join in their second or third year. Lot's of them met more friends this way and just did the sport for a bit of fun and social. You could always in September get the ticket where you can try as many sports as you like during freshers. I wouldn't worry either as the societies are all friendly and welcoming of everyone.
Also you could always ask someone on your course, you may meet them the first week back from summer, and ask if they would like to go freshers fayre with you. The fayre isn't just for freshers and is open to all students to try something new (also there's usually a dominoes van there giving away free pizza

I hope this helps!
Best wishes
