We've been having this discussion all day as my teacher felt i had spelt it wrong in my personal statement and still i have no clear answer... even my english teacher couldn't give me a clear answer so was wondering what everyones opinion here was?

Focussing is the British English spelling, whereas focusing is the American way.

Looks like it can be both.
Focusing is definitely used more, though.

Focussing is how I spell it. It depends on where you are from, to be honest...

It's either; personally I prefer focussing (and I think that's more commonly used in Britain). But I'm sure either would be fine
