Calling all makeup experts

Every time I wear mascara now i get an irritation or a stye. I used to wear mascara every day and now even if I use one coat it causes my eyes to irritate or to get a stye. Does that mean I can never wear mascara again? I bought a new one and used it and my eyes got irritated
It sounds like you have sensitive eyes or are allergic to some of the ingredients contained within a lot of the most widely available uk mascaras.
Do you wear contact lenses or have any known allergies?
Which uk mascaras have you tried?
Any difference using hypoallergenic mascaras?

Have you tried Neutrogena's lengthening mascara?

L’Oréal Paris Paradise is a great brown coloured mascara for sensitive eyes.
Bell's hypoallergenic Long&Volume is also very good.

Thank youu, I don’t wear contact lenses and I don’t know if I’m allergic but that could be right. Tbh I do normally use Poundland mascara because I’m not that well versed in makeup stuff but this helps thanks. Would you recommend I splurge on mascara then? x

Yes.
It can take a long time to find the right mascara that is comfortable, within budget and suits a few of your favourite makeup looks.
Same with eyeliner, foundation, lipliner, gloss or lipstick.

But it is well worth the time and financial cost.
The improvements to appearance and giving strangers positive first impressions of you as a potential employee or coworker can be significant.
also like make sure you actually are removing it popularly
