Hello everyone,
I'm a bit stuck on how to answer this question:
Explore how Dickens presents ideas about responsibility:
Write about:
- How Dickens uses Fezziwig to present ideas about responsibility in this extract
- How dickens presents ideas about responsibility in the novel as a whole
Would someone mind helping me by giving me a brief overview on the paragraphs I could write?
Many thanks

Hello there lovely,
I have just finished my GCSES thankfully. I’m going to give you a few tips from memory. When answering a question like this please please link it to the opening question. Unfortunately I have thrown away all of my school books but here’s some structure which will come in handy!

Always always use the structure above as this is the structure which will give you the most marks. PQC are good but you won’t get much marks for them. (Point, Quotation comment).
Some themes in Christmas carol is:
• arrogance of the upper class
• collective responcibilty
• redemption
• social injustice
• greed
• forgiveness
Some extra tips of mine are.
• the three trick always write 3 paragraphs!!
• use your time wisely in the exam.
• Always so question 5 first it is the most marks and is 50% of the paper.
• mention social & historical context.
• spell the characters names right, I know it sound stupid but examiners really do look for silly faults like these.
• use quotes for each stave and link it to a theme!!
For structure:
This is just incase your school/college doesn’t do this but shows you the structure for petal paragraphs.
POINT- the writer uses…. to illustrate….
EVIDENCE- “insert quotation”
TECHNIQUE- what does the writer use to covey this?
ANALYSIS- go into depth on a certain word or device in the quotation and give out potential meanings or inferences from the quote.
LINK- link it back to a quotation & link.
I hope this helps sweetheart x
