I walked out of the restaurant after ordering

The food was taking too long but I think it wasn't just my fault because my famliy agreed to do it when I asked plus they wrote a note. Is it bad?

I think it's incredibly rude but, hey, that's just me
this
It depends on the restaurant & the time, and if you prompted the waiter at some point to get an eta.

Also yh the bar staff member was rude when asking for the ID for alcohol, the normal food waitress was OK though

Uhh what? This is a reasonable time to wait. I’ve waited for food for 45 minutes and we didn’t mind. That’s just us tho haha

It's a family members birthday soon and we'll probably go out for it so I'll try to wait longer then no matter what

Have you ever cooked for yourself and noticed some meals take over 30 minutes to prepare? Restaurants don't have piles of food sitting there ready to be served instantly. Plus it was time to spend having pre-meal drinks and socialise with your family.

I hope your family paid something for time- and potentially food-wasting...

My family didnt pay because normally you pay at the end of the meal not at the start, also they left with ne when I asked so, I think it was not just my fault but also their fault for walking out with me because I won't have left since I had no way to get home. Plus the bar staff member was kinda rude too
“Hi we’d like to cancel our food order as it’s taking too long, I’m really sorry”. Then leave. Job done.

You're paying towards wages for service, food, utilities, all of which were used, even if you didn't eat your meal, so why not leave a contribution as a goodwill gesture? Did anyone ask why it was taking time; maybe they're short-staffed with Covid? If someone else had ordered some of what your family had, it could have been redirected, instead of leaving a note for the staff to find when they return to your table.

If you thought one member of staff was rude (what was said?) something could have been said at the time; that's coming over as an afterthought.

In what way were they rude? This could have been brought up at the time instead of just leaving a note and going thus wasting everyone's time and effort. Or was it just that you were asked for ID which is literally their job. Maybe they were short staffed due to illness? Did anyone even bother to ask? Not that 35 minutes is an exceptionally long time to wait. Selfish and, tbh, I'm very surprised that the rest of your family went along with it - sounds like you are used to getting your own way.

They were like "Where's his ID then" but in a really depressing moody tone, attitude and it felt like we were intruding upon their day when ordering. I just didn't know at the time it was actually that bad. Next time ill know its bad, it's a famliy members birthday soon so we are going out for that and I'll know not to walk out

It wasn't me who was paying so I think that wasn't my fault
