Hi, I haven't done my grade 1 piano exam yet but I think that I am capable of completing a grade 3 exam since I'm grade 4+ piano pieces.

Is it possible to skip the grade 1 and the grade 2 piano examinations?

    Thanks.

I skipped straight to grade 6 on guitar. Probably the same for piano also.

Yep, but once you get past grade 5, you still need Grade 5+ theory.

(Shhh just let me post this comment, mmkay)

Yes, it's completely possible. I would however, recommend you to ask your teacher (or any musical teacher) to see what they think. Sometimes you do think you are good enough, but music teachers will know better and know your capabilities. It would be more worth it to consult a teacher than waste 20-30 quid for a piano exam you may fail.

I know you can play grade 4+ pieces, but there are also other elements to a piano exam, being sight reading, scales (technical work) and aural tests. Sometimes playing is not enough, if you get my drift. Try the aurals, the sight reading and the technical work.

That said, I'm sure your an excellent piano player, I wish you the best!

If your teacher thinks you are good enough, certainly.

Yes, I jumped from Grade 1 to Grade 3.
However it's a big leap to Grade 4 so make sure you can do it all first

Yes it's perfectly possible, in fact, I'd say advisable. I skipped from grade 3 to grade 6 and got a distinction.

Did you stop to think before posting an answer that was given a year and a half ago?

Did you stop to think before posting a comment that was completely unnecessary and makes you sound like an annoying 2 year old?

If you must know, people 'Google' these things, so I was hoping it could be of use to somebody else.

Please get a life and stop making stupid remarks?
