    Hi,

I've just worked out a regression line of Y on X using data in a question, to get the equation Y = 1.28X - 4.2 and am now meant to use coding to find the regression line of y on x.

    The codes I've been given are: X = x - 200 and Y = y - 130

I really have no idea how to get the answer, can anyone help? The book says the answer is y = 1.28x - 130

    Thank you

    perhaps im wrong but wouldnt substituting X =x-200 and Y = y-130 into the first eqn Y = 1.28X - 4.2 provide the answer?

    well doesnt what i suggested give y=1.28x - 130.2

the bit in bold rounded up to 3.s.f. gives the answer you told us? the book may have rounded up...
