I play the geetar but afraid you'll have to wait a year  and In my opinion a cappella is a good or bad decision based purley on your voice. I have to say even if your a good singer (Which no doubt you are) going totaly a cappella is a pretty gutsy move.

Hm, well I've only ever sung in public a cappella (apart from the karaoke that time) and people didn't think it was terrible, so really I'd rather do it like that.

The Mute

I'll bring popcorn.

That better be Encouragement Popcorn and not Mockery Popcorn. :colonhash:

I am hereby declaring my intention to do the next open mic night at easy j's.

Couple of open questions:
a) a cappella = bad idea/not allowed?
b) know anyone who can play the gee-tar? properly, not rly badly like i do.

You should totally create a UCL Glee Soc :coma:

EDIT: Also MY TEAM WON MY LOCAL PUB QUIZ FOR THE SECOND TIME LAST NIGHT!!! :woo:

Still getting over hangover tho :emo:

I think musical theatre or jazz or someone are doing something similar, I seem to remember my friend mentioning something a few weeks back about it.

Definitely not jazz!! :p:

I think musical theatre changed their choir's name to "Glee Choir" or something equally ridiculous...

Quite a lot of my friends are.. some for the same positions!! It's a bit awkward for me :p: Have any of you seen the videos? This one makes me laugh: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niID3HrzVA8

The guy behind the bar is seriously angry at him for making this video. I'm surprised the Sabbs let him put this one up...

OH MY GOD

I'M NAOMI!
I'd have been there, but for the pointless "consultation" called by the Humanities Dean about departmental restructure, followed by lectures 4-6.

Banging our heads against a brick wall repeatedly would have been more productive than that meeting.
You're telling me.
Reply 835
Apparently not! Well, we got the extended consultation period at least, which means things are looking marginally better than they were yesterday. I still find it hard to believe that they can make so many changes that will affect current students, rather than just future admissions. If I'd wanted to do the kind of degree they're proposing, I'd have chosen ESPS.

Heh, I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall in the Academic Board meeting.

Eh? What do they plan on doing? And to which degrees?

Well from what I've heard, they're planning to basically smoosh all the language departments into one big "divison" (was that the word?) and basically teach European-studies style courses, rather than the specialist ones currently offered by departmental academics. And they want to move all language courses out of the departments and into the language centre. And they want to get rid of a lot of the year abroad co-ordinators and just have one or two people act for every single country.

I take most of this with a pinch of salt as I'm not 100% certain on it, but this is what my friends have told me, and she's pretty into the campaign.

There's a 47 page document on the website somewhere about the proposals for the reform of the Modern Languages depts, if people want to read it...Wouldn't exactly recommend it for light reading though.
