Odeon selection day

Very happy to say I got my first interview for odeon!
Apparently there is a group assessment and presentation and then 1 2 1 interviews. I haven't done any interviews before but I don't even know what a group assessment would be? Has anyone had any experience of this at the odeon or otherwise? Also do I have to have a good knowledge of films for the interview? I already have my favourite movies down (the greatest showman and in the heights. Guess my fav genre 😏). Any advice would be really appreciated! It was a bit short notice as I was only emailed today to attend the interview tomorrow but fingers crossed 🤞

Update on the job interview, I GOT THE JOB! The group interview wasn't as bad as I thought. We just had an introduction favourite movie etc. 2 group activities 1 on selling things and 1 on problem solving. Then the presentation was about the job and informed me I could transfer to another odeon for uni and stuff which was great! The 1 2 1 interview went so good for a first interview I think. Made sure to be confident and all that. Can't wait to start the job soon!

hi! sorry for the late reply and congrats on getting an interview! the group interview was really chill. first it was introductions and we had to stand up and say our name and our favourite movie and favourite actor. then we had a group activitie in 3's were we had to come up with ideas on how to sell the food offered at the cinema. its kind of daunting talking to people you dont know but overall everyone is usually nice. you then have to present your ideas to the interviewer. their are no wrong answers you just have to make sure you are loud and confident when you speak.

then there was more of a presentation going into what the job is like and the values of the company. you have some time to ask questions here aswell. then the last group activity of problem solving is you get a problem to do with the job like "a man is angry about the price of popcorn what do you do?" (this isnt an actuall question but you get the gist) then you go back into your groups and discuss this, and present what you said like last time.

when i did the interview i just made sure to be confident when i spoke because they are looking for someone who isnt afraid to speak to new people and can do anouncments as you might have to do this in the job. something i would do differently is to make sure you speak up when presenting ideas. dont let people talk over you or steal your own ideas. also when you are sitting through the presentation try and look engaged and happy to be there! im not really a confident person but i was able to "act it out" well and i think thats what gave me the job.

the 1 2 1 interview is no problem aswell just general questions about times you can work and 4 interview questions. i wont go into exactly what they were but just make sure you have some movie knowledge and know how to treat a customer well. good luck for your interview!
thank you soooo much!!! i will take everything you said and acknowledge it thank you for taking time for the response.

Hi!! Sorry to bother, but I’m going to my Odeon interview tomorrow and I wanted to ask if you remember how long the interview + group interview took? I need to go somewhere after my interview and I wanted to know if I’d be late for it or not😅 Thank you!

Hi! Sorry for the late reply in the email it did say 3 hours but it was more like 2 hours for me because only about 10 people showed up. Just depends how many people show up and how quick they get through the presentation!

Hi!! Thanks for answering! My interview ended up being just a 1 on 1 one and not a group one so it was really quick! I think it went well and I’m just waiting for a call to see if I get the job or not! Thanks for answering though  Have a great day!

Hi, I just got the job and I’m starting soon but I’m moving back to uni in mid sept. How shall I go about telling this to my team. Is it straightforward to move branch?

Thanks

hey!

I told them in my interview that I was looking to move branches to one close to my uni. even though I didn't end up doing it they were OK with trying to move me. you can talk to one of your supervisors about it and they should be able to help you. you can just go directly to them or bring it up in your next review. it sometimes depends on wether there is space available in the branch you are looking to move to, but if there is then it should he rather easy!
