A level choices

I went to my college taster day doing A-level Fine Art, French and Law. I didn’t enjoy Law at all and need to change it. I don’t really like any other subjects. I don’t mind mathematics but i only have ever got 6s and 7s at GCSE. History is a subject I enjoyed at GCSE and got 7s 8s and 9s but the topics at my college in the course aren’t particularly interesting.
What do I do?

Hellooo, I'm in sixth form and would say choose subjects you find interesting and want to learn more about. Perhaps look at university courses and A-levels required to do specific courses and maybe decide around that if you are really unsure. I would say don't dwell on GCSEs too much because some A-levels are just that much different. Just remember the gap from GCSE to A-level is huge-especially for something like A-level maths which is an A-level I'm taking-but if you put in the effort it will come back. I hope this has been helpful. Good luck with choosing your subjects!

Hi,
I think I might chose History because I want to do something like Criminology at Uni and an essay based subject is subject. I enjoyed it at GCSE and I think having coursework would be nice. Thanks for your advice. Good luck !
Thanks! I'm glad I could help

Don't do a degree in Criminology - its just Sociology degree with a few different units, and it doesn't make you 'a Criminologist' as thats a Psychology specialism. There is no job that requires a degree in Criminology. If you do Sociology, that incudes aspects of deviancy, inequality etc - and you can actually get a job with a Sociology degree.

I am very interested in the subject and the different aspects of it. I know the job I want to do doesn’t require a degree but I enjoy learning about it
