What sort of stupid question is that? If your parents earn over x amount then you pay if they don't then you don't pay.

All people should pay for uni/contribute in some way. Even though some people have rich parents doesn't mean the parents will pay for the childs education. If some poor people work harder i.e chavs, then they will earn enough money to pay for uni.

Well my parents had £2 in their pockets when they came from india, all they did in their lives is work work work, i had a poor child hood .. crap clothes, got bullied by chavs at young age 6-7 yrs old.

Chav's are usually born in this country, why don't they do some lil bit of work and help pay for uni. Instead of taking tax payers money.

This is not aimed at poor, its aimed at chavs.

At the comment "why should they work hard",what the... why should they laze about and get free hand outs.

They often don't a lot of it is media manipulation. Those chavs have the right because they are UK origin so are entitled to many benefits etc. However morally you have a good point, I also believe just because somebody was born in the UK it dosn't give them the automatic right to benefits unless they can show its genuine and they are trying their best.

Socialy proper chavs will find it very hard to to university and I am sure if any chav does get into university they have tried very hard to overcome barriers which they have probably faced in childhood.

I think maybe some people's definition of chav will differ from mine.

I live in chatham [home of chavs]

A chav is someone:

- Racist
- Hit people in the street
- Wear burberry
- Can't talk properly
- usually when they do get in fights they get knocked out
- Addicted to cannibis, ectasy - occasionaly try coke/crack
- cut on their lips
- Theives
- Rude

Thats my criteria for chavs. Some chavs are ok [mild chavs]

Suppose chavs come in all types of variations

Only way to deal with chavs is to use violence imo. Well this is true for the chav matching the criteria above.

chavs dont go 2 uni anyway. there may be some chav-like people who go 2 uni, but they end up in the bolton-institute or university of east london, who end up studying a completly pointless degree like nail polishing, the history of burberry or the different-ways-of-getting-benefits.

i think they should
Why should they? "Chav" is an attitude concept; not a class concept. Notably, even the son of a judge is a chav. To argue that they should be exempt would be to link tuition fees directly to attitude and mentality, rather than fiscality. Are you sure you still stand by this position?
