worried about my weight

im 16 year old female and i weigh 39kg and im 155cm and i know im underweight but i eat a normal amount and i cant seem to put on weight. i've stayed at this weight for years and i dont have any eating disorders so am i considered unhealthy? also can i have some tips on how to put on weight.
hey! You are just 16, so it is normal to have weight fluctuations, that does not mean you are not healthy. Just increase your protein intake and start weight lifting and don't eat junk - you will build muscles, become stronger and look very good.

Trust me, you are at a good starting point, if you follow this you will have your dream body in no time. Good luck!

thank you i'll try this!
Don't worry- as long as you are eating a balanced diet, doing regular exercise and feel healthy, you are probably fine.
You may still be growing.
If you want to increase your portion sizes or start regular weight lifting/swimming/doing squats to build up some visible muscle, that's fine.
Good luck!

I’m a 18 year old male and I used to have the same problem. I used to be very skinny during my early teens and couldn’t gain weight even tho I ate a lot. It all changed during the pandemic where I went to the gym cus my friends encouraged me to. I started developing muscles and my chest became a bit more vibrant. The rest was history. I’m 74kg now and I’m content with my body.

i'm glad to hear that
"I eat a normal amount"
How do you know what is "normal"?
The amount of food someone needs varies from person to person; some people need to eat a lot more than others! And that's ok

"am I considered unhealthy?"
Is your body functioning as it should? Periods? Any deficiencies? Do you feel tired or cold often? Do you get ill often?
Might be worth seeing a GP?
People are naturally slightly different sizes!

Tips on how to put on weight:

Eat more! Increase your portion sizes, particularly with carbs and protein, make sure you're also getting enough fats. Have more snacks, drinks (e.g. smoothies, hot chocolate), whatever gets you consuming more.
Have a think about what exercise you are doing. Obviously it is important to do some! But (an extreme example) if you were running a marathon every day whilst only eating as much as your peers, then it would be quite clear as to why you struggle to put on weight.

Some (amongst many) helpful websites (they basically say the same thing):

See a GP if your body is not functioning the way it should be, or if you're still struggling to gain weight a few months after consistently consuming a lot more.

as long as you are eating a balanced diet

What would you class as a balanced diet because I'm 16 male and underweight and have no idea what a good diet could be since I just eat what I want.

Generally eating a wide variety of foods & regularly consuming: protein, carbohydrates, salt, water, vitamins, and unsaturated fats.
