No don't you see the UK wasn't built for this kind of heat climate change is real
Yes, climate change is real. Can I do anything about it at the moment? No, not really. I try not to stress about things that I have no control over.

They can start by reducing greenhouse gases temperatures like this shouldn't be happening in the uk
They can't because they are too lazy to do anything, the climate is heating up faster than ever sooner or later many countries will be unhabitable, I have recently joined a protest group

call me a pessimist but we'll all be long dead by the time this planet dies so I wouldn't worry too much cuz doing anything impactful is beyond us although we can try- but every penny counts I guess and so does every action- good on you

Then maybe the government should pay me to switch to an EV or give me free solar panels.

Why are so many people in denial, this extreme weather will become the norm, I am trying to raise awareness but I get laughed at, however less people are laughing now but still so many deniers

Who is denying anything? This weather is absolutely **** and mankind is definitely part of the cause.

The point is individuals can't do **** about it. The infrastructure isn't there to support people to make green decisions e.g. cycling, eco ways of heating/cooling etc. Most people are too occupied keeping their head above water, working hard, saving for a mortgage, providing for their family etc.

You might be experiencing climate anxiety or doomism which is the feeling that we're all screwed and gonna die which will make you feel considerably worse; I know because I've been there. The recent IPCC report shows that we need to keep heating below 1.5 degrees or the effects will be catastrophic- the uninhabitable earth is a possibility but that's bordering closer to 2080, the possibility we're more likely to see is mass climate migration from Africa which again is preventable. It won't be easy and I know it's frustrating to see inaction by our leaders but just know that change is being made- a few years ago we could've steamrolled straight through 6 degrees of warming but it's now closer to 3 which is still bad but a great change. Change is happening- we can't stop the earth from heating up but we can stop it from heating enough to kill us- every fraction of a degree of warming is worth fighting for. I would recommend making changes to your life- it's true it won't save the entire planet but it can make you feel better personally and if everyone had that mindset, nothing would change. You could eat less meat, start cycling instead of driving, take less flights and stop using uber-fast fashion like Shein, even downloading Ecosia instead of Google and switching off lights and electricity you're not using. Just please make sure you separate doom (it's too late to do anything, we're all gonna die, the waters gonna run out) from fact and take a break from the news if it starts to overwhelm you.

I already don't eat meat, I will never drive. But many of my friends are eating more meat than ever

you can't control what your friends do unfortunately and here's a fun fact for you- them eating meat may be having less of an effect on the environment than you think. most of the global emissions are due to burning of fossil fuels by the 10% richest on the planet, the corporations, banks etc. so curbing your individual emissions while realising that the fault lies with the richest and holding them accountable is just as, if not, more important.

What about all the trees being chopped down and green land being concreted over, surely that is going to ramp the heat up even more in future

you're absolutely right although it's a positive that deforestation rates are slightly decreasing and the hopeful election defeat of Brazil's Bolsonaro holds hope for the Amazon. the point is that practises which shoot up the global temp are happening everyday and it is the governments and corporations which hold the power to make the change, as the electorate we can make individual changes and also push for change from our governments because believe me it is possible. even the idiotic ballsack boris johnson boosted offshore wind power and biden passed the defence production act to boost renewables- with the heatwave more people are talking about the climate compared to when i became an environmentalist and with more people talking, more change is being made (just look at australia; they kicked out their climate-sceptic dictator PM in favour of a greener parliament and socialist leader
