WWI was taught to death for me, possibly at the expense of other aspects of history.

I saw it and am well and truly p'd off. But I can understand to some extent what they are saying, In compulsory education, History is compulsory to the end of Year 9, and only the Second World War is covered in detail, Come GCSE History and the WW1 is covered.

I hate to be tarred with the same brush, Its a nightmare for me and those who are genuine young people who arent out to cause trouble. I was at a shop and thought I had received the wrong change, I asked the gentleman to check it and he threatened to call the police. Irrelevant to this but it shows how society is geared against young people.

I was watching the BBC news last night and was really offended by a piece that basically implied that young people know absolutely nothing about the war. I swear that the BBC either tracked down the stupidest two boys they could find or paid them to pretend they knew nothing. This is actually how the first part of the interview starts:
There are a lot of people out there who are absolutely ignorant of damn-near everything outside their small realms of experience.

"When do think the war started?"

"About 19 or 18" (um, what?)
Assuming they meant 1919 or 1918, they weren't massively off.

I wouldn't say ignorant, they just didn't know; the war hadn't been portrayed to them as important.

Yes, well the BBC are ********* alot of the time, it must be said.

Everytime they interview anyone in Iran about the political situation, they always find some bearded Islamic fundementalist who's burning a US flag. Then of course, everyone thinks we're like that
