My pre-employment checks are also complete and I am an external candidate (first time civil service). Everything went smoothly, and now I am just waiting for a call from the manager to agree on a starting date! It's been quite a journey, as I got 2 offers from the Civil Service on the same day and I had to decline another offer, but I am thrilled to start working in HMRC. Fingers crossed that the call comes in soon! By the way, being an internal candidate, do you have any idea if this position allows for compressed hours arrangement? 😊

oh that's a good news because there has been a pause on external recruitments recently.

Yes, HMRC offers compressed hours working arrangement, you can discuss it with the manager once you start the job. Hope we will get the start date anytime soon

I just wanted to let you know that I received my starting date and that you may receive yours soon too, if you haven't already received it 😊
Currently, I have some free time. I don't want to sit around and I would like to be productive by learning more about the systems and Quality Assurance Framework. Of course, I don't have access to any official CS learning resources as I am an external entrant. Are there any external resources (books, open source systems etc) that you would recommend? I know this isn't compulsory and I will learn when I start the role. However, I enjoy doing this, and I would be grateful for any guidance/direction. Thank you!

Hi, yes I got the start date too, it starts in one month's time.
The learning material/modules would be available for you on HMRC's internal webpage once you become HMRC employee and start the job. There will be some online courses which every employee has do regardless of their job title. Then some courses/training will be specified to our job. The job description says QAF but what modules exactly we wouldn't know in advance.
As an existing HMRC employee, I can tell you that there will be plenty of courses to do every one year, two years, 5years as well as the job specific training. so hold your horses and use this time to relax and chill, you will be given a lot of material to learn in first few months...hahaha

Hey, I've just received a provision offer through for this role yesterday. Do you mind me asking when both your start dates are?

Thank you, that's really helpful!
Unlikely my start date will be so soon, but good to know they are placing people quickly.
I had to turn down the provisional offer as I had already accepted another role

Hi. I have an interview for the data and systems auditor role and was wondering if you could shed any light on any questions asked? I am already within HMRC but I need to get this role any help is appreciated.

Data Analyst one ran out last week.. still in reserve for the auditor one until January but not holding my breath as there's hardly any CCG recruitment at the moment.
