experiences with cardiff's computing msc conversion course?

hi everyone! i received an offer for the computing msc program (applied on a whim and didn't expect such a quick offer!) i would love to hear about others' experiences and opinions on the course. i'm an international student with a bs in journalism. i'm still waiting to hear back from newcastle, but cardiff is my second choice!

i'm a bit nervous but i've been teaching myself basic html & css with plans to study javascript this summer as well. how did you prepare for it? was it math intensive? how are/were the professors? what are/were the modules like, especially human centric computing? i'm also curious whether it's less theoretical since the course name is "computing" and not "computer science," and if names matter. also, did you do the placement year and was it helpful?

thank you so much!!!

Sorry this doesn’t answer any of your questions, but I’ve also applied to this course at Cardiff. How long did they take to accept you?

Hey there! I'm also accepted into the Msc Computing conversion course at Cardiff (but mine's with IT management). I have a similar background as you - international student with a BA in humanities. I absolutely suck at math, but have been a data analytics executive for about 2 years now and know a bit about basic programming and modelling. I asked about the course before applying months ago but received no response so I'm afraid I can't answer your question either, but just want to let you know someone out there is on the same boat

That’s fast, it’s been 3-4 business days so I’m totally not panicking

hi, thank you for reaching out!! i'm glad to see another coming from a humanities background. i've accepted cardiff's offer (newcastle's taking too long to get back to me) so will be moving there september as soon as i get my visa! if you're also headed to cardiff, i'd love to keep in contact as fellow international and computing students haha

Congradulations on accepting your offer! And sure I'd also love to keep in touch, feel free to drop me a private message and we can connect somewhere else  Edit: I'll be heading to Cardiff in mid-Sep, would be great if we can hang out before our program starts!

Hi there!

Hopefully OP catches your question, but if not, we have students on Unibuddy such as Lyla, who are currently doing the Computing MSc course. She'll maybe be able to give you some input as well?
