i've had 4 teeth pulled out

trust me you dont want toothache instead because it gets worse later

is it a baby tooth or an adult tooth?

Reply 2

its fine just take a couple of nurofen before. I found it very helpful just to listen to some music and sit back whiel lettign the dentist do his/her thing. If you want get him to explain the procedure before! and the best advice is to have the needle!!!

Reply 3

i dont know if nurofen before is necessary or medically ok since they numb you before you start anyway

i always tell the dentist to tell me what he/she is doing because i get worried a little, but on my 4th time it was fine!

if it is a baby tooth than you just have a gap left after and it eventually gets a tooth in place anyway

however, because ive never got an adult tooth pulled out im not sure if they replace it... (ask in the dentist section :P )

It feels really weird for me, but doesn't hurt at all.

The first time I got a tooth removed, I was quite nervous, and was asking if it was going to hurt and stuff. And the dentist just said, "Why would it hurt, I've already taken it out."

That was embarrassing lol...

I was terrified when i went in but it honestly wasn't bad at all the worse bit is the injection and it's only a brief stinging sensation. The actual extraction doesn't hurt at all

You may not need the tooth out though, you might just need a root canal or something. Go get an appointment and ask them first. You don't want a bridge/crown

No, it's an adult tooth and it's a molar at the bottom!! I want another new one put in!! It would be too weird to have a gap there eww no that would be horrible and really weird!

What's the actual problem? As I said it might just be a root canal you need or something

What's it like?

I think I'm going to have to have one taken out as soon as I work up the courage to go to the dentist :frown:

Do they put something in its place like a fake tooth?!
I'm worried - it sounds so horrible I think I might just rather have toothache :frown:

I had two out a couple of weeks ago. The only thing that mildly hurts is the numbing stuff they put into your gums and the roof of your mouth.

It feels a little weird when it comes out, but not painful, and then you just have to chomp on some weird cotton thing for about half an hour. Its pretty funny trying to eat that night though, with your lips numb and everything.

I only had a bit of pain for around 3 days after, and that was fine with some paracetamol or whatever. It's perfectly fine now.

Well I really hope so. But it's this tooth that I have had a filling in for a few years and at the time the dentist said that he had caught it just in time and that if the decay had gone any further he would have had to pull it out and no it's like really really hurting me. It feels like it's bruised inside - especially when I eat or push it with my tongue lol

Does it feel weird not having a tooth there now?
On the bupa website it says that you have to stay in the clinic for 15 minutes until the bleeding stops! Oh no it sounds horrible, I remember when I was little I used to hate it when I lost a tooth and I could feel my gum! I don't want it to be like that permanently...

Not any more. It did for about a week, and then you just get used to it.

Yeah, it bleeds, but you can't feel it at all.

I had 6 out (for braces), some baby and some adult, and the worst bit is definitely the needle (and even that's not that bad; it's just that I hate needles). After that there's just a cracking sound and it's done. I did dribble loads after though and because my lip was numb I couldn't feel it and I had blood and saliva dripping down my chin for most of the afternoon but apart from that it was fine. I still have some gaps from some of the adult ones and it's not that obvious and feels normal now.

I had two out for braces and i didn't find it bad at all (and i find everything sore!).
Of course the needle does sting slightly but when they take it out its not sore, its quite funny, you're aware of it but its not sore.

When i had mine the dentist struggled for ages to get one of them out (he said i had long roots on my teeth!! wtf!!), and even then it wasnt sore.

And tbh, id agree with what many others are saying, you may not even need to get a tooth out, best go to speak to your dentist sooner rather than later.

Please dont worry .

I've had all four of my wisdom teeth removed and I two baby teeth at the front. When I had my baby teeth taken out I was 7 and I remember a few tears, but it wasn't that bad.

A few months ago I had the wisdom teeth on the left side removed, the only thing that hurt were the injections, however a couple of months later when I had the ones on my right side removed my dentist didn't give me the same amount of injections, and so the extraction was quite painful. I must say watching all of the blood pouring from my mouth when I got home was a bit shocking.

It's fine. I've had an adult tooth molar out because I had this weird thing on my gum.

Ok, I didn't have a clue what the procedure involved, and was pretty shocked, because, irrespective of today's technology, all my dentist done was give me anaesthetic and then rip it out with some metal spanner thing.

No, he didn't fill it in, I just have a gap where my tooth used to be. But I'm fine. Humans have always traditionally lost adult teeth, in labour and fights or whatever.

To be fair using dental forceps is the most effective way to remove a tooth. What do you want, laser removal?

It doesn't hurt in the slightlest, they numb your gums.
