Commonwealth Games in Birmingham 2022

The opening ceremony will soon be finishing, and the games begin tomorrow morning. As always, I will be keeping track of the swimming, feel free to make predictions, discuss the results and (if you're in England) enjoy the thrill of a home commonwealth games.

Finally found someone else who loves the swimming! It's one of the only sports I watch in the Olympics and commonwealth games
Already underway:

Womens, Mens and Mens Para Lawn Bowls started at 8:30am this morning.

Regrettably there doesn't seem to be TV coverage of this. :frown:
At 9am:
Badminton
Gymnastics
Rugby 7s
Hockey

All commence :woo:
At 10am the cycling will begin

Followed by the swimming at 10:30am

11am will herald cricket and triathlon

Noon will see Netball, Boxing and Squash begin
Rugby 7s

Scotland's women put up a solid defence against the Fijiana but came away worse off in 31 - 12

Australia cruise through their match though!
England trouncing Sri Lanka so far
(Rugby Sevens)
33 - 0 to England
at half time
Poor Sri Lanka :frown:
King (BAR) vs. Penty (ENG)
Badminton Singles

England winning at the second mid-game interval.
First game went to England, Penty leads 11-3

Very disappointing! Not used to seeing England on the back foot in the velodrome.

Tense moments now to see who will qualify 2nd fastest to new Zealand.

And now I've switched over to the swimming. :colondollar:

Australia get a new Commonwealth record in the velodrome, so it's not looking good for England!
Dan Wiffen of Northern Ireland just had a smashing qualifying race beating Australia's Mack Horton

Luke Turley (END) and Kieran Bird (WAL) in 3rd and 4th too.
Yay!! First gold for England for Alex Yee in the triathlon. Absolutely amazing performance!!
Chad Le Clos surprisingly slow in the heats, through to the semis but he will need to pick up the pace.
