AS Physics : Photoelectric effect question involving a graph.. Watch

    "By rearranging the photoelectric equation, show that the graph of Ek (y - axis) plotted against  1/\lambda   (x-axis) will give a straight line.

    Any help/suggestions appreciated

    E = hf = \frac{hc}{\lambda}

    You know the equation of a straight line is

    y = mx + c

    so just compare the two.

    E -> y, \frac{1}{\lambda} -> x and hc ->m



    I believe. Attribute silly errors to me being tired :p:

    In fact you can show that as E is inversely proportional to \lambda, as E goes to zero, \lambda goes to infinity, which is physically true. Longer wavelengths have less energy than shorter ones.
