2 years since applying or 2 years since conditional offer? That’s crazy.

Do they email you when vetting is complete or does it just update on the portal?

Knew the process was a long one but never imagined that it could take years

I got told it expires after 6 months regardless , so we will get vetted again once we are offered an intake date.

If it isn't this intake it will be the next, which I believe is in January. Also as I said in the last post the recent change in Government probably hasn't helped.
This wait time is an absolute kick in the face, but fingers crossed it isn't too much longer.

Hey, was wondering if you'd heard anything from BTP I applied in october 2023 done my fitness and finger prints and tried uniform on in December 202, but haven't heard anything since.

Wondering if you are still waiting??

BTP has no money. In fact, less than no money. They are concentrating everything on transferees now. Wait times for C Div can be 2 years +.

You *might* get a class, but if you have been waiting a year there is a strong chance that there are a large number of people ahead of you.

Unfortunately, if you want to be in BTP the fastest way to do that is probably to join another force and then transfer. At this point, there is no reason for you not to apply to another force. If BTP do suddenely come back with an start date you can just take it. I know someone who transferred whilst in training school (as in training had already started and he moved from one force to another).

Thank you, I honestly can't believe the wait is so long I've never know anything like, I've already been a police officer for a HO force so I don't wanna go back to that I may apply for a PCSO role in the meantime.

Not sure why they recruit if they keep people waiting years.

BTP has had its own problems for a few years - but all forces just don't have the money now and pretty much all of them are trying to save money by not recruiting.

How long ago were you a PC? Were you not eligible to be a transferee/rejoiner?

2022 I left as a PC and I'm currently in a different job just waiting for a start date since October 2023,

I'm in same situation, I got vetted 18 months ago still waiting for BTP, I've reapplied for SYP and WYP.
April this year will be 3 years since I applied, can't see an intake anytime soon.

Wow nearly three years!!! Really bad, not sure why they recruit and keep people waiting for years... I guess everyone is in the same boat and it's not just me.

I haven't even been vetted anyway, and in sure it expires after 6 months aswell.

I was a special constable for about 9/10 months then a full PC for just 1 year so it's not enough and I left in 2022.

Ok, sad times.

Without going too deep into the whole thing, surely you know how the whole thing works? I presume you left your old force for a good reason. Is BTP realistically going to be any better? Apart from apparently no intakes happening for the foreseeable future, I'm not convinced of any real upside. Ok, there's no domestics and no neighbour disputes. Is that really worth the terrible funding situation and the pension being a nuisance, as well as relatively limited options within the job?
