Scared of failing uni exams

I'm currently at an all time low. My family make me feel like a literal burden because of this and I don't even know who to reach out to.

I'm third year uni student feeling scared I'm going to fail and they'll kick me off my course.

Had to retake exams that weren't even my fault, and I had a few yesterday, they went so bad. I still have a few to go but I hope I haven't ruined my chances.
When you say you feel at an all time low, do you mean mental health and wellbeing wise? If so I'll suggest some things. Never suffer in silence.

Please don't fret about your results on the exams you've took because it's wasted energy, you can't change that now. Focus on the ones you've still go to go as if you've aced the past ones. Imagine if the ones you've already took haven't gone as bad as you thought but you'd given up trying so mess up the next ones!

Yeah exactly that, I have been going to counselling in my uni but I'm due to see them after exams. I'm just feel so tired.

I'm going to try as much as I can for these ones, but the ones I did had so much weight to them that it sees futile to continue and I'm wondering what to do if all else fails too.
Hey,

Don't stop believing in yourself. You can do this. You have already come this far with your studies
Don't quit now. Try your best!!
Whatever the outcome you can look back and say ' I tried everything possible in order to attain this outcome'.

Try looking at this situation differently to try to find alternative solutions. You should aim to create a balance where you can rest as you say your are tired and be prepared to take your exams without worrying about the weight of the others you have already done. Believe in yourself.

Only after your exams should your think about different avenues not now.

Hope this helps

It is tough doing multiple exams. Don't look back at the exams you have finished already and make a list of the top priority topics to read for the next exams.

Make sure you are eating enough and have some extra water to drink on hot days. This will help to keep your energy levels up.

You have done well to pass first year and second year. Third year can be tough and difficult to explain to people who have not gone through it before. The exams will take all your time now but afterwards make sure you spend some time looking after yourself. There is a lot more to life than uni.

If you actually have done poorly on those there is likely to be another resit opportunity but most courses cap the marks at 40%, which will impact degree classification but you can still graduate.

Have you been granted extenuating circumstances for your mental health? Make sure you see your GP as well as the counselling service as your GP can provide official proof of a condition to the university and they will be more lenient with you.

Also, please know that even if you did flunk out of uni it is not the end of everything! Plenty of people find university is not right for them at all, or not right for them right now and go on to lead happy, successful lives.

I'm in the exact same position but with only one exam left outstanding and two 4,000 word essays that need to be done by next Monday but on Friday I did complete 2 exams and one essay of duvious quality. Whatever happens you tried the best you could in the circumstances that you were in. That's what matters. Have you spoken to your academic support team about this?

Yes I definitely will, I'm just a little sad that I have to think like this. I'll definitely be more relieved and think about other things after these exams. They've just been a lot for me recently. I appreciate your words, thank you!

I'll be honest I'm not the best person who looks after themselves at the care minimum, but I'll definitely try to do what I can.

I rather feel awful because it's third year, and it feels like if I don't do well, I'll amount to nothing. I wish there was a good support system for students like me in this situation.

Thank you!

This is a deferral exam but I apparantely can't resit because these technically count as resist. My university actually doesn't accommodate much for mental health during exams.

Thanks for the reassurance and taking the time with the resources, I'll definitely check them out!

I hope you managed to pass! Rooting for you! I can only imagine how hard that is for you, but we both need a little faith, right?

I did talk to my academic support team about how unfair it was for me to sit them in the first place but they are very strict with that. So here I am.

Yeah, that's exactly right. Won't know until September/October what the exact facts of my academic situation are, but to be honest with everything including the mitigating circumstances, I don't even care any more, even if I graduate with an ordinary degree or a third, I can still spin that postively in interviews. Just won't be able to apply for grad jobs and that's ok, more than one way to skin a cat, right?

Are you already on a repeat year? Or is the prospect of you redoing third year not entirely out the window? Or are you an international and that's just not financially viable?

Don't even want to think of the stress and anxiety waiting for September, can't exactly help it.

Right! And It's good that you've got a positive way to apply this and use these years as an advantage. Personally I think degrees are overrated, and everything that comes with it.

I haven't repeated a year but I'm certain the university won't let me since it's a regulation as part of this course. That's why I'm expecting the worse because it can happen.

I'm more so upset with the fact my parents are upset that I might have led myself to failure and this was all a waste.

Yeah, I get that, my own mother got very despondent and depressed when I told her that things were going south with university and fast, because I was always the child she expected to succeed, but I don't think university not working out as planned needs to mark the death of any success in life. There's plenty of examples of people who don't even have a degree full stop who still achieved success. In your day to day life and if you looked it up on the Internet, but also plenty of examples of such people who were on the scrapheap and just stayed there, so what matters is what you think about it and whether you want it to act as a catalyst for change and a motivation for success or a death sentence hanging over your head. It's catergorically not a waste, because you still learned things at university and developed as a human being which are things to talk about in job interviews. Focus not on failures but what you learned from them and how they made you a better human being who learned from them and is still willing to learn further.

Sorry to hear this and what you're saying is very true.
I really hope that this experience takes you to an even more successful path. I do know that degrees are not the end all or be all, even if it does feel this way. And it hurts right now but it won't in the future.

I'm not the most academically driven so my whole life my parents have kept their eye on me. Yesterday they talked about how they could look past my awful grades in college because 'I was a child'. Having said that, I'm not any more, I'll try to make the most out of my shortcomings. Definitely.

Just wanted to add that I don't deal with things like this well, as soon as I finished my exam, knowing how it made me feel and my family feel, I took the long walk home and grazed my knuckles against a long brick wall without thinking. I didn't realise until this morning that this was bad.
