I didn't get accepted to Edinburgh Do they give first preferences to Scottish students just out of curiousity?
I did feel like ringing up and asking why i didn't get in, but i don't think that'll get me anywhere.

most scottish students i know who applied were rejected... one of my flatmates got her teacher to ring up and ask why she was rejected (for scots law) and they said because they preferred local people (she was from near glasgow)

I got an offer for Philosophy and Economics last week. Specified a B in AS Maths on top as well which my paranoid maths teacher thinks is racist.

BBBB for Accounting and Economics at Edinburgh
AAAA/AAABB for Glasgow...

There are indeed many reasons why one might choose Glasgow university over Edinburgh, but if this is done on the basis of the above alone then the decision is ill-advised to say the least.

The following article may help explain the reasoning behind the recent lowering of entrance qualifications: http://education.guardian.co.uk/univ...904869,00.html
