is the nightlife at keele good?

Hi Anon!

It depends on what you mean by nightlife, really. Whilst I don't think anyone would try to argue that Keele's nightlife is on par with what you'd find in a city centre, there's certainly plenty going on both on campus and in the local area!

On campus, we have both Keele SU and the KPA Clubhouse. The SU run lots of events in the Ballroom (their events space) and The Squirrel (the bar), which include DJ sets, themed nights, quizzes, club nights, live music etc. The KPA also run themed nights, movie nights, quiz nights, activities, and music nights. Most of our clubs and societies also run socials, some of which involve going to the SU/KPA or into town, and others which might be a bit more chilled and relaxed (such as board game or movie night socials). So there's very rarely an evening within term time when something isn't going on!

Off campus, there's some decent bars and restaurants in Newcastle under Lyme (and a regular bus service to get you there), as well as a cinema the New Vic Theatre (which puts on some fantastic productions). Further afield, Stoke on Trent (and Hanley in particular) has a wider range of bars, restaurants, and clubs as well as a larger cinema and The Regent theatre.

One of the other nice things about Keele is that if you do decide you want to head out for some city nightlife, we're just a bus ride/car journey away from Stoke on Trent train station, from where you can get to the shops and nightlife of Manchester, Birmingham, or even London! If you have your own vehicle, we're also just off the M6, which makes getting around by car very easy too.

Hope that helps!
