MSc Adult Nursing student wanting to work permanently in the US.

Hi everyone, I’m soon to be studying Registered Adult Nursing as a masters degree January 2023 however,my end goal after graduating this course is to work overseas in America as a RN, will I be able to use my UK nursing degree/licence transfer to the US? I've done research and I know I will have to apply for VISA, complete a CGFNS exam and NCLEX-RN exambefore and also finding a sponsor?Any experiences or useful advice would be appreciatedas I can't find much information online.

We're a primarily UK based site here so I don't think there's many on here who will know the ins and outs of getting registration in the US. I believe it can be challenging to meet some of the criteria required due to the branch training system we have here in the UK, but it's not impossible. Getting a little bit of clinical experience on graduating here is likely to be of benefit to you as well, rather than going across as a brand new nurse.

Have you tried having a look on the all nurses message board? It's a US based site and you're likely to find more answers to what you're after than on here. I believe the RCN also has advice on their website and may be able to give you some pointers if you speak to them. https://www.rcn.org.uk/Get-Help/RCN-advice/working-overseas

you will require to do peds and mental health plus drugs. and have experience it can take 6months to a year to get the courses done in county.

If i have a Bsc in Child Nursing and a Masters in both Adult and Mental health nursing. Would I still be required to do more courses?

Hi how did you get on with this? I’m looking to do the exact same thing soon, I want to study a masters in nursing in the uk and then relocate to the USA to be a nurse there but I don’t know how feasible that would be
