Hi guys, i have a UCAT score of 2893 (with 10% UCAT increase added) - seeing as i'm a RUK student, is it likely that i'll get an interview? I just don't want to get my hopes up haha

Hey, I am a RUK student too applying for the first time, I would say there's no way really of knowing, I saw somewhere on one of those freedom of information documents that the average ucat score from RUK students last year or the year before was 2775. Do not quote me on this though as i don't know where to find that sheet again! But I am not sure if that takes the 10% ucat increase into account. I would say since you've applied now not to think about it, if it comes it comes. if you don't think about it, you won't get your hopes up or be upset. We will hear back from January to march so still quite a long time! focus on the A-levels that's what im doing. I havent heard back from any unis rip

I was looking at statistics for St Andrews and it appears that they have the highest interview to offer ratio. Is that still the case?

Not anymore after Sunday times and Guardian recent reviews. 4: 1 applicant to offer now I guess . This year it may even high

You mean you think more people will apply because it is the top of a league table? I thought everyone took those rankings with a huge pinch of salt?

I have to admit I am quite conflicted in how I feel about the split programme (3 years there and 3 years elsewhere) at St Andrews . . . as it is the only one of its kind in the UK I just can't help feeling like that is a negative. But in terms of a place to live, I would probably rank it my #1

I have been there and loved the university and staff and helpful students.
Its small town and there is no big hospitals like in London, Manchester , Edinburgh, Glasgw .
So they have to go elsewhere to do the final 3 years which is cool. I m not sure if you can apply to Canadian universities or one in US after three years.
I know few apply directly to Oxbridge and get there on their fourth year.
I heard it's good university to learn your basics if you wanted to be a surgeon.
we should take it as positive that we can explore two different universities or even two different countries in one course

I agree, having studied in three different countries myself, you do get tired of one place at some time (especially considering that St Andrews is tinyyy), and there's always new excitement with moving somewhere else. Also, there are plenty of options to go somewhere else for your clinical years (beyond the ones directed by St Andrews), though not sure how this applies internationally (Germany does allow it too - so I suppose other countries should too?).
