The SFC take their figures from the Scottish Government and they are a bit slow to update. I researched the origin. The Scottish Government figures released on 15th December 2022 gave an additional 100 medicine places for 2023-24. I simply divided by 5. Simplistic, but it works for them too apparently!

The Scotsman newspaper also reported this way back in February 2023. I’d be pretty sure all the Universities would have had prior knowledge of this for some time.

The Scottish Government link in Excel is a bit convoluted and lengthy, but here it is, download it rather than view it - otherwise it doesn’t view properly, and the data is there, although you have to search for it. For quickness for you it’s under the H&SC table, row 73, column O. There’s other stuff in there to that might be of interest.

Apologies, may be I should have given the provenance for my figures in my previous post to save any misunderstanding, but in my defence I was busy.

OP asked for first year

Have they stopped giving to freshers in JBH? Used to be for freshers too.

Is there a difference between receiving an MBChB cert from Edinburgh after completing only the 3 clinical years vs completing the full 5/6 years course? I mean are both certs equivalent?

By looking at the certs can you distinguish who did only clinical years and who did the full course at Edinburgh? I am asking because I was wondering, is the MBChB from Edinburgh acceptable/valid without the BSc(Hons) cert of St Andrews?

I know I am asking stupid qs but I am a bit curious...

Yes you can differentiate between full degree and only clinical in Edinburgh. But both certs have same value. MBChB is valid and it is on its own without BSc. degree "attached" to it.

It is something like this, if you do say MSc. and get a cert, you need not to show your BSc. cert to validate it.

And I thought i did ok at the interview. Like, they said for st andrews, (when i was there) usually 65% of students who get an interview get an offer so I must be really bad at interviews cos my st andrew’s interview went the best out of the three and I’ve basically got 2 other post-interview rejections. I really want feedback on my interview performance from all the schools cause i want to know what I’m doing wrong… i really don’t want to do the ucat ever again but oh well.

It’s very difficult to be subjective over interviews. There may only be half a mark between success and failure. It’s also a sliding doors moment. A different day or question may result in a different outcome. I wouldn’t be too hard on yourself.

I'm basically in the same situation as you. PLEASE ST ANDREWS SEND US OFFERS!!!!!

Should I withdraw from St Andrews? I already have 2 offers and I’m pretty sure I’m going to get a rejection. Or should I wait it out?
