Which is the most competitive Scottish medical school to transfer to? I assume it is Edinburgh but I wonder if that is the case. Am I correct in saying that most students go to Glasgow?

This year, Edinburgh was certainly the most competitive. There were a few people who listed it for their first choice and ended up with their second choice of Glasgow.

Does this mean that most people get their first choice clinical school, is there anywhere I can find statistics about this?

It may be worth raising a FOI request to St Andrews. However, I do think that most people tend to get their first choice. I only know some that didn't this year because a friend got Edinburgh and a couple of their friends didn't (it goes on the Christmas exam results) - 50% Glasgow/30% Edinburgh/10% Dundee & 10% Aberdeen.

I was under the impression that a few student go to Cambridge (unofficially) and if you are interested in an MB/PhD UCL or Imperial can accept you. I have seen doctors go down these routes.

There are always the odd one or two who go along non-standard routes, but an international applicant looking to transfer outside the standard pathway is unlikely to be successful, unfortunately

Ah the issue is they are an international student, got you. Manchester is still an amazing medical school.

did anyone last year have to give proof of your widening participation circumstances around march time? and if so, when did you get an offer?

Most do but not all as your Christmas exam results determine that. You are asked to rank your choice 1-4 for Scottish route and with the English route, it's only Manchester and Barts. It's in your interest to do well in these exams if you want to secure your first choice.

Cool, thank you. I am loving it here so far, thanks for all the help.
