I feel depressed because I bought a new phone and it is dented

So this may be a really stupid post but I bought a brand new phone with my money for the very first time and I felt really happy that I finally bought something on my own and not with my parents money. I love my new phone but after using it for only 2 days I noticed a really tiny dent on the top corner of the frame of the phone. I really don't know how it happened but it may seem to be because I had it in my pocket without a case and maybe it scraped against something. But now I just feel really upset and depressed because I really wanted to look after this brand new phone but now I feel like i ruined the "new" feeling of it. The dent itself is extremely tiny and its hard to spot without actually trying to look for it and even my family said that they can't even see it. But I can't stop thinking about this tiny dent everytime I use my phone and I just find myself constantly staring at the dent and it depresses me so much that i ruined a brand new phone with my carelessness.....sorry I know this is really stupid but does anyone have any tips on how I should feel better about it and forget what I did so I can enjoy my new phone? Thanks

just get a case for it... then you won't even be able to see it

No point crying over split milk: what's done is done.

Get a case for it, so you don't cause any further damage to it and just let it be a learning experience that if you want to keep things nice and new, they need a bit of care and looking after.

Don't worry unduly - it's annoying, but not life-changing.
I think it is good that now you can clearly see that the phone is yours. No risk of mix-ups in a shared house. I know someone who deliberately keeps a damaged phone so it can be quickly seen that it is his.

I'd just be happy that the tiny dent wasn't a huge scratch across the screen.
I remember when I was younger and things like this seemed like the end of the world to me too. I understand how you feel as silly as it seems. You were hoping to take care of your new phone and keep it in perfect shape for as long as possible but 2 days in and it’s already ‘ruined’. You’ll be disappointed in yourself for a while but you’ll get over it eventually. When I become stressed over relatively minor things, I try to look at the bigger picture in life and put it in perspective - there are a million other things that could go wrong with a phone, so better a scratch than faulty hardware for example. Even better when you try to put that perspective in context of life generally: there are a billion more other pressing issues in life so better a scratched phone than I don’t know, going out and realising you don’t have enough money to get the bus back home and being lost in a new area or something.

It's definitely annoying when this happens, but at least if you damage something very minorly early on and get rid of that need for perfection, you won't spend months being really precious about it and get even more upset the first time it gets damaged.

I'd worked so hard to keep my phone completely pristine for 2 years, and then dropped and minorly scratched it while moving out, so I ended up spending the day annoyed with myself instead of enjoying the start of uni  Wouldn't have happened (and I wouldn't have wasted years being paranoid!) if I'd been in your situation and not kept it "perfect". I know it's hard, but it's much better to accept that it's done now, get a case and screen protector to minimise risk of any future major damage, and move on to enjoying using your new phone rather than just looking at the frame!

The really annoying part is that it scratched on my way to getting a screen protector and a case! Cause those were first things I was going to get after opening my new phone.

That's the exact same case for me, except that it's at the bottom left corner and is the Samsung Galaxy A55
Hi there, I juste wanted to thank u for posting this, because, I am disheartened for what happened to ur phone I genuinely relate to what u describe, it's like I "ruined" my brand new phone about 3 weeks ago when it slipped from my pocket and fell ,sustaining two tiny dents despite having a case!,but no dmg to its functions, it's still annoying and it makes my heart sinks a little every time I think about, but it's normal for a phone to fall, we were fortunate enough not to pay heavily for our mistake and the damages are seemingly only cosmetic (and even then ,not much) again I am glad I stumbled upon ur post, it felt comforting knowing I am not alone, may our phones live a long and healthy life!
I'm in the same situation. My brand new phone's frame/housing got scratched and now I feel so depressed. I also feel like my new phone is ruined :frown:
