What is the point of applications asking if you know any of their employees? watch

    I know it doesn't give any advantage or disadvantage. I know a few employees in some cases but can't be bothered to write that in the application because maybe I should ask them before I write.....

    It can be advantageous if the said employee is willing to give you a possitive reference.

    Sometimes the employee in question will get a bonus for introducing you, especially if you are an experienced hire. Other times it's to make sure that you are not put into the same department as a family member or close friend etc.

    JPM, MS Citi do not offer these for grads. GS, exception, maybe?

    indeed it does

    a large proportion of the positions opening at GS are listed/advertised internally and then employees can put people forward for the job - although this applies with experienced hires as a norm, specific FO grad positions works in the same way

    nope, interns can't take part in the referral schemes - policy is you have to be working at the firm for at least 1 year
