Ive got a meal with friends next week and thought it would be a perfect excuse for a new dress!!! Chances are no one else will be dressed up, but that wont stop me!!!

Im size 14/16 (due to large boobs and wide hips.... not fat!!) so obviously nothing too skimpy although i dont mind a bit of leg and dont mind a bit of cleavage (although ill still need to wear a bra)!!

I've found wrap around dresses suit me quite well.(i have a couple, but all quite dull colours)... and i love the idea of bright red!!!!!

Ive had a look around on the internet but kind of need it to be a shop, as i like to try things on (being a funny shape, you can never really tell)

I liked this dorothy perkins one

    http://www.dorothyperkins.com/webapp...8383&langId=-1

but the idea of it being a "bodycon dress" scares me a little as obviously im not a stick!!!

any one any suggestions? (doesnt have to be red but i quite like the idea of it, plus i think that colour quite suits me!!!!)

There are some gorgeous wrap dresses in H&M, they're Jersey-type fabric but if you're anything like me (tiny waist and birthing hips ) they'd suit you. I got one in green and one in purple :o:

That dress you looked at looks GORGEOUS. I think it'd be nice with tights, and if you're curvy then it should hug the right places and make you look good

    lovely thank you.

im affraid that the first and third one seem to have details on my "larger bits" although i love the first one i think the ruffles might make my boobs look a little more obsene!!!!

i like the plain urban outfitters one (think it could be dressed up for anything) but am unaware of any in and around coventry!!!

Wrap dresses are probably the best way to go, maybe with a few delicately placed sequins?
And red sounds like an awesome idea, especially with some black opaque tights and nice heels

so anyway.... the little girl inside me that has absolutly no patients and has been to town on my dress hunt.

the original dorothy perkins one that i liked was horrible.... the fabric was really wierd!!!

i also tried a couple on in new look... the one that people suggested (i think death drop had it in black, but it looked a bit funny on me and just kind of hung and wasnt particulally flattering.... i also tried on their puff dress in red and i looked just that..... a puff!!!! lol!!! not a good look!!!

    i also found this

    http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/st...9034&langId=-1

in topshop and thought it would look nice with a big black waist belt, but alas (typical topshop) only had it in a size 8

never mind ay!!! the hunt for the perfact red dress continues!!!

on a plus side i did get a couple of wrap dresses from dorothy perkins (pretty similar to the ones ive already got... but you can never have too many!!!).... not exactly party wear, but there good for casual!!!
http://www.dorothyperkins.com/webapp...3434&langId=-1 (i got it in purple and gray!!)

I was thinking of getting the new look dress, is it not very nice then? It looks nice in the picture that girl posted but then it probably wouldn't look so good on me.

And the purple one you got - gorgeous! How low cut is it though?

Good luck if you keep trying, I'm looking for something to wear at Xmas.

no the new look one was nice, it just didnt look right on my shape.... think the best bet is to go and try it.... you cant loose out!

the purples a little low cut but its not terrible (by my standards anyway!!!) like the fact i can dress it up smart or (as i did shopping on saturday) put it on with flats and its can be quite casual!!!
