Depends what proof you have that they received the cheque. You need proof in case they ever take you to court. Has your tax situation been sorted?

oh i had that happen to me, i left my first job having been off "sick" the last couple of weeks and they still paid me then i had a letter requesting the money back.. idiots! it was their mistake grrr but i still paid it back

I got a letter saying I owed boots £440. I sent a letter asking for dates and references etc and they never replied! Bizarre! I think they got my finish dates wrong.

They withdrew the payment, so problem solved .

you do unfortunately have to pay it back. If you dont give them a cheque they could deduct it from your further wages.

A friend i used to work with was accidentially over paid by £4000 and the company asked for it back. She said no, quit and left the city because the company is threatening to take her to court over it!

So thats anothe option!
