Plymouth nightlife?

Plymouth nightlife is quality. You have the big places: Oceana, K2, C103, Walkabout, Revs, all of which are great and do student nights throughout the week, although as said, if you dont go out on one of their student nights then it can be a bit rough, especially on Union street.

At the weekends, or before/after a night out, the area around the student village is pretty buzzing with smaller places like Roundabout, Cuba, bang Bang, Fresher and Proffesor, Skiving Scholar, Ryde and others. The SU is also decent at the weekends.

Most nights here are also relatively cheap, with most drinks seemingly about £1.50. Best nightlife I've experienced in a city, probably not as good as bigger cities like London Bristol Manchester Brum ect, but its still very good, and probably cheaper.

Only thing I'd say is watch out for trouble.

So who has had offers from plymouth?

Union Street can be rough when the Navy boys go out. There's not usually any around on Student nights though, and its probably the best place to go out.

Plymouth is pretty good for a night out. Plenty of places to go. Union Street has plenty of clubs, then theres North Hill which is loads of fun and Oceana. I wouldn't say Plymouth is rough, only if you go looking for trouble!

Got an offer from Plymouth and Glamorgan - which has the better nightlife?

If you're looking for something alternative, there is Redeemer (formerly The Rock Show @ C103 every Friday, two rooms, one for the more mainstream rock and the other for heavy metal [used to be drum n bass]).

There's also Asylum on a Wednesday at Crash Manor, but it's a bit dead and if you don't know anyone it can be lame.

lived in plymouth 18 years with a gap year at the mo, depends what your into...i personally hate it, the pubs where you're supposed to be able to talk are dingey and quite expensive, alot of scrotes at oceana thank god it;s closing down..Revs is nice  they closed fresher, the only good pub... that's why i'm going manchester or london  also you're likely stabbed on union street ...(slight exaggeration..just an idea of what it looks like haha)

i love plymouth night life-these are the best nites in my opinion......

Totally agree with what is said here! Came through clearing so didn't know what to expect - there are loads of places to go out though. Oceana on a Monday is awesome!! Admittedly, maybe this was just my experience, but the first time you go its just like any other super club....however, most of the student night life, again in my experience, happens in bars (cuba is an amazing night out if you're twatted and fancy a pole dance - you get a bottle of sparkling perry if you flash your boobs [ say no more!]) as opposed to clubs so you really appreciate the music and atmosphere.

Apparently the SU is good, i personally disagree but i haven't ever been to another. Yes, it is big and has three bars with various music etc and is cheap.....but.....the queues!!!!!! As a group we no longer go there on a fri/sat as you will be waiting for AT LEAST an hour if you go past 11 as every other club is so expensive. The bouncers are also incredibly strict; if you are too loud you will get kicked out of the que.... maybe i'm just bitter!

There is also a great drinking spot called Fresher and Professor - all shots are 6 for £5 which is located on North Hill right next to the uni campus (ideal for crawling back to halls)!

Its difficult to get the feel of a place unless you come and see the city really, but the nights out are awesome - like anything, its what you make of it! x

Plymouth nightlife is good if you like going out and getting wasted, although Union Street is rough and a bit scuzzy.

I'm going into my third year at the University of Plymouth. I study Law and I love Plymouth and it's nightlife. As much as I love the usual Oceana, Revolutions and Student Union, I also love the nights that the Miami Mix team put on throughout Plymouth and Exeter. I first started going to their nights back in January and have been going to all of their nights ever since.

I would definitely recommend them if you want something different, elegant/smart and more sophisticated from the usual nights that happen on other student nights.

Check out the website here: http://miamimixnightsplymouth.webs.com/

What I love about them is that they have something for everybody. I love House, Drum and Bass and the usual chart music, but the DJs that you would find on their nights play a great mix of music that covers what they're supposed to play as well as some D&B and chart hits but the DJ mixes it so well that everyone still dancing.

I don't know all of the nights from the top of my head, but some of them are LATINA, Salsa City, BollywoodBhangra Nights, Arabian Nights and Erasmus Go Loco Party. They also do online competitions which is fun. In March I won a three bottles of champagne, FREE dinner vouchers to spend at Arribas mexican restaurant, La Tasca Spanish Restaurant and Albasha Middle Eastern Night. I didn't have to do much to be honest, apart from like the page and share the link on their page onto my page.

I would definitely recommend to like them on facebook, or follow on twitter or even suscribe to their mailing list and they will give you all the information - that's what I do.

is that all there is - just drinking - what a pity life

must be boring

Okay, so Union Str. is rough. Coming from a person that's lived near Plymouth her whole life... It's well known for prostitutes and the most 'impolite' locals. Unless it's student nights, steer well clear!

(Try North Hill, that's the best place for nights' out!)
