Need help with my essay -- I am absolutely lost and desperate :(

Hey everyone!!

I'm putting a message on here because I genuinely don't know what else to do. due to mental health reasons as well as being EXTREMELY confused about this assessment I wasn't able to hand in one of my second year assessments at the right deadline so now I'm doing a re-sit.
The deadline is in 3 days and I have 0 words on paper, no sources yet and genuinely don't even know how to structure it.

I'm supposed to pose a question related to the creative industries, (e.g. in what way has social media impacted the music industry), answer it in an argumentative essay. that all sounds pretty straightforward, but I'm getting SO LOST because I have to add a theorist's idea (cultural theory) and keep going back to it.
I'm not English so I've never done this kind of essay this way before, and I've been trying to get something down all day, no success.
I'm having such a hard time finding a theorist's idea that's related in ANY WAY to what I want to answer, and I'm genuinely freaking out...

Is there anyone on here that knows exactly what I need to do and could give me some guidance?? I'd appreciate it immensely!!

Hi there! I've found some things that might be helpful! Make sure that you give both the positive and negative effects of social media on the music industry, and reference when you quote ideas!

Do things step by step. Don't go back and repeat a step - keep moving forwards.
(1) Decide on a subject and a question. Just decide! The sooner you do this, the sooner you can start working on the essay.
on a question.
(2) Find two positions / answers to your question and contrast them against each other. Decide where you stand so that when you get to the end, you will state which you think is the strongest argument.
(3) Go through your course materials and look for cultural theorists who have written about the chosen subject, ideally one for each position. Look for quotes you might use. N.B. You could START with this step, as this is a requirement of the essay and so it's essential you fulfill it. AS YOU ARE STRUGGLING WITH FINDING ACADEMICS TO USE, PERHAPS THIS SHOULD BE YOUR STARTING POINT. FIND THE THEORISTS THEN FORM THE QUESTION.
(4) Start drafting the essay. Introduction (150wrds) + 4 or 5 sections where you build your argument (approx 400 or 300 words each) + conclusion (150words). This is for a 2000 wrd essay. Don't spend time fiddling with individual sentences or redrafting your introduction. Just bash through to the end, then revise. You need to get a draft done by the end of the 2nd day, using the third day to refine.
(5) **** IMPORTANT **** Build your References List as you go - you won't have time to do it at the end.
(6) Use the course materials wherever possible - avoid "essay by google".

Hope this helps!

Who are the main cultural theorists who are examined on your course? What are their areas of specialism?
