Basically my parents are separated and I am dependent on my mum, who works as a receptionist in a gp. My dad is a doctor and holds a degree but my mum does not so would I meet the criteria for "first generation applicant into higher education"?

They aren't divorced but are still separated

No, you would not be considered first generation to HE :frown: I think they specifically ask for both of your parents professions on the eligibility forms that are emailed later from what I've seen
(Original post by flyingbunny.80)I meet 2 criteria but my IMD score is not in the lowest 20%, should I still apply as I go to a bad school and meet other contextual criteria which they haven't listed?
If anyone has applied previously, how do they ask for proof of the eligibility criteria?

Its a website called IMD postcode lookup, put your postcode on there and they will send an excel sheet. Then look at the IMD part and for southampton it has to be a score of 2 I believe.

Hello,

4th year Bm5 student at southampton here 👋
The BM6 program is not open to international students . The difference between the 2 programs would be the admission requirements and then the additional year for BM6. Once you’ve completed the initial year (yr 0) on BM6 you join the BM5 cohort in their first year and continue together.
Here is a link to the admission info about both programs

Hello not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but I have good (predicted) A levels and GCSEs but a terrible UCAT. I do not know too much about foundation year programmes but can it disadvantage you in any way in the future? Also will you have to write that you did a foundation year programme on your CV and do employers look down on it?

Don't mean to offend anyone, would just like some advice x

Hello,

4th year Bm5 student at southampton here 👋
This is what the faculty has to say about the BM6 program “This BMBS Medicine BM6 course is designed to widen participation in medicine. For example, you may be able to apply if you or your parent or guardian receive benefits, or you are the first in your family to apply for a higher education course.”
Its not a foundation year program, so if you don't fill certain criteria it is not open for students who didn’t get the marks or the UCAT scores. You join the Bm5 cohort in their first year and Bm4 cohort for clinical years . You graduate with the same degree and your performance in clinical years is what determines your foundation year application and then your job applications .

Hope that helps

Does anyone know if BM6 accepts applications from applicants who've taken their A-levels within a period of 3 years?

Are you a retake student? If so then I emailed them and they said: 'We do consider re-sits for A level and GCSEs. Applicants are permitted to undertake one retake attempt per A level for a maximum of three subjects'
I've never resat an A-level before, i just took an extra year. @dorkytimes

Hi, does anyone know when they'll be sending out the eligibility form and 3 questions? And will the questions be the same as last year, or will they be tweaked slightly?
Thanks

The three questions are set out on their website. I am not an expert, but wouldn’t expect them to vary too much from the published ones. I have no idea how they relate to last years questions though.

I have no idea sorry. Does it give a clue on the website? Or maybe last years thread may give an idea as to what happened last year.

good luck with your application.
