Bailey Site or Parson’s Field?

I have the choice of Single standard room at parsons field and shared room on the Bailey and I wondered if people that are attending either can give me some insight on the pros and cons, Thanks

Hiya

Do you want a catered accommodation or a self-catered one? Bailey site is the former and Parson's field is the latter. Plus all formals are on the bailey site so you either have to book an Uber or walk there, so Bailey site can be an easier option if you want catered accommodation. But it's just 10 mins walking so no biggie. Some people are able to make good friends with their roommates as the college tries to pair you up with someone who has similar interests to you, but others may prioritise privacy which is when a single room is the better option. I think those in shared rooms only share for one term (but I'm not sure if that's the case for Cuths as well) so it could be a good experience if you see it that way.

Have you checked out what the rooms look like? You can see a tour of the single standard room at Parson's Field here and the shared room at Bailey here.

Hope that gives some insight

Thanks:smile:

Catering and self catering isn’t really an issue for me but I’m wondering if a shared room is a bad option. I prefer privacy but there seems to be more advantage in being on the Bailey (location etc) however those that went to parsons also very much enjoyed it.

I’m very torn🤣

Well I'd say call Cuths up and ask them how long the rooms are shared for- just one term or the whole year. From what I've seen, Bailey is a prettier location compared to Parsons. Both are located in peaceful areas so I would barely expect any noise. If it turns out that you share for one term and then move to single rooms, I'd say give it a go? They'll try to pair you up with a similar person and you can then probably have rules about privacy and how everything would work? But if you'd have to share for the whole year and don't wanna take the chance of your roommate being uncooperative, Parsons is in no way a bad option. Basically people love any accommodation they end up going to so you'll be fine!

Hi ! I am now trying to make the same decision, which did you go for in the end? I was leaning towards Parsons because I'd prefer self catered but at the same time i've heard it's quieter/ less social there ?

Hiya,

I was at Parsons in 22/23 and I can definitely say that was not the case 😁 Although I mainly kept to myself and didn't personally socialise a lot, there were quite a few flat parties and events at Parsons for people to socialise (especially during freshers) and we do have a bar at Parsons. It's definitely not hard to meet people in Parsons and socialise.

Hope this helps!
