VR text size in the UCAT being really different?? 2023 entry
I sat my UCAT for the 1st time last month but due to some issues I was allowed to reschedule it and do it for a 2nd time later this month.
When I sat it for the 1st time the font size of the VR text surprised me a little. It definitely put me off because when I was practicing VR on the official UCAT website or even on Med Entry, the VR texts are really squished together with the font size being really small. I got really used to this, so when I saw the font being massive and text being REALLY spaced out, I was a bit shocked. The lines of the texts being so spaced out meant that scanning the passages and finding key words took longer because I felt I was having to move my eyes across the page way more.
Is the layout (big font size and text being really spaced out) the same at every test centre? Or was this just at my test centre???

This is why I normally advice that students practice in large, spaced out formats these days. Not many people do. I’m not sure if it’s the same at every test centre but yeah, it also sucks that there are no ways to change it!

There’s no way to change it?😭 I’m going to do my UCAT next week and this week I did my first mock from the official website. Before this I was using Medentry (where the text size tends to be bigger). On the official UCAT mock I got a generally higher score on VR probably because font is smaller, but for QR and DM, the small size really put me off and I got much lower than anticipated. But idk what I’m going to do about it in the real thing and whether to expect a bigger or small size😭
