Leaving my MSc with a PGDip...where do I go from here

I'm in a unique situation as I'm leaving my MSc with a PGDip. I've done my dissertation, I just did not pass one of the courses and am not allowed to re-take the module. I'm still wanting to finish my MSc in the future (MSc Epidemiology) when I'm in a better mindset and in a more comfortable position money-wise and personally. I'm not sure of any PGDip to MSc conversion courses, but is it even a thing? Like, do I need to take a whole MSc programme again to be able to obtain that qualification, or are there programs where I can re-sit the remaining credits?

I have only seen very few business school top ups (MBAs etc) from very low ranked universities. What is even more complicated is that you failed a module and not the dissertation. In any case, I think that your only option is to start a new MSc programme (If you actually need it so urgently, that is).

That is odd, since you usually hear most people that are unable to complete the MSc fully usually do so because they do not pass their dissertation rather than the other modules. With the other modules, you should get at least one opportunity to retake the. Have the uni said why you can’t?

Not heard of any pgdip to msc conversion courses. Usually people who opt to do PgDip rather than a full MSc do everything except the dissertation basically, and then top that up to a full MSc using those credits by doing the dissertation.

You can try a different uni and explain the situation, they may allow you to get the complete MSc but you might have to do another dissertation. Depending. On the uni, it’s unlikely the courses and modules will be the same, but they might be similar but it will depend on the unis own policies and course whether you can make it up that way.

Otherwise, I think you’d have to do the whole thing (again) for the full MSc sadly.

Saying that, depending on what you want to do in future, having done a dissertation and hopefully having a strong grade on that can still be useful career wise, depending on their requirements or if you go on for future study I.e a phd

I’m in the same boat as you I passed the dissertation and got 165 credit I’m just 15 credits away to get the masters

I am looking for another universities which can accept my PgDip to top it up to full masters which I think is unlikely but I will give it a try.
