If you're looking at northern cities, Leeds has a reasonably sized Jewish community, and the university has a Jewish society https://engage.luu.org.uk/groups/293/jewish. Same applies to Manchester https://www.ujs.org.uk/manchester

This thread is a year old - you might be best off making a new thread to ask :smile:

Most unis are likely to have some kind of Jewish community though (which may or may not be a formal J-Soc). As for synagogue in the city etc, that will probably vary and you'd need to look into each city generally.
