I am planning to apply for the program to study abroad for the next year.

Does anyone know wether I have to take courses with more or less the same content as they do in my university?

As long as your department is happy with it then it'd be fine. The modules being similar would certainly help since the work will have been based on stuff the class has already done in previous years. If you've not done any of it then there'll be some catching up to do.

oh, well you just do the modules they offer. Your home uni has to approve them, but its fairly laidback. For example, i'm doing a module here on the medieval archaeology of the Italian region that i'm in. Obviously they don't do that back at Leicester, but its considered Ok for me to study while i'm here
    hope that helps

Your university will tell you their requirements. I imagine it's different for every uni.

Because I study German, when I went on my year abroad, they said I should take like a third related to language, a third related to history or literature and a third free choice.
