Questions regarding the application deadlines watch

    • Thread Starter

I am a student from Germany and I would like to apply for a PhD programme
at the University of Oxford starting in October 2009. Since I have decided
to study towards a PhD degree quite late I will probably not be able to
meet the first application deadline, which is on the 21th of November.
Hence I am wondering if poeple who have submitted their applications before
the first deadline would have been prefered as those whose application
reached the university within the second or third deadline. So e.g. a
department has 10 fully-funded PhD scholarships and within the first
deadline the department has received for instance 50 applications.
Then, in worst case, people who have applied within the second deadline
will have no chance to get admissions?

    1. Please don't make the same post in several different places.
    2. As I said in reply to your post on the Oxford forum, if you're hoping for a scholarship, you should probably try to apply as soon as possible, otherwise you might still get a place but no funding to go with it.
