Mixed feelings on Ruskin school of art

So I went for the open day a couple day ago now in Oxford and I have really mixed feelings. I really loved the actual city and space around it (I personally don’t like the idea of going to London for uni which is also a bonus), I loved Teddy Hall and I also really like St Annes. I loved the small student to tutor ratio and parts of the course like anatomy and the fact that there are weekly working artists visits as well as the art history components. The main let down for me was honestly just the facilities - I just felt they were disappointingly under-equipped and small (even considering the small student body for the course). Like they don’t even have a kiln, foundry or dark room which just feels like a joke slightly. The lecturers did mention how they had connections if you (for example) wanted to do pottery outside the school but I don’t know how feasible that is. I guess I just want some idea of how limiting the facilities actually are and what the school is actually like from a student perspective because I literally love everything but the facilities.

Hi! what was St Anne's like?
I am a current student at Ruskin School of Art. They say it is possible to get access to a kiln outside of the department, but it is simply not possible. I have been trying desperately the whole time I have been there and they get mad at you if you mention it. The course is kinda shite as well every lecture, seminar and reading i have had so far has been about racism and colonialism and **** all about art. I wish I could quit but I'm in too deep and I'm in it for the name of Oxford TBH. They don't even give you a ******* sink in the first year you have to leave and go to a different bathroom to wash your brushes.

A staff member told me "you shouldn't go to museums as a white person" if that gives you any clue as to what theyre like. I sound like some rambling conservative or some **** but it really is that bad you can't make this **** up

hi there I'm going to the Ruskin for MFA this autumn, can you please tell me more about what the programme is actually like? how are the tutors? I'm getting mixed feelings too at this point, I did my undergrad at a very disappointing school, kinda wishing Oxford would be better lmao
From what i've heard from mfa students, you don't get any lectures or anything as an mfa student, nor are there basic facilities such as a kiln. You prepare lectures and workshops for the other students instead
