I got through to AC's, have mine next Thursday afternoon.
I'm moving to Liverpool soon so i'm a bit concerned as the council there was local!!

good luck guys! ive also got mine. not sure if its next week o week after. was taking a more laid back approach as im not sure how to prepare. wondering if any one has any tips? think im out of my depth here. feeling a bit overwhelmed tbh and at this point im considering not bothering, as even after this theres still another hurdle to overcome!!! im alot older than the candidates, and i feel outdated! i have other job opportunities with similar pay band. the reason i really wanted this job was the level 7 qualification and the ability to work with my LA in a leadership role, and actually create an impact and change that i could be proud of and push change rather than working in a mundane job where i constantly voice and advocate for change to no success!

Hello how was the assessment centre experience online? What were the tasks like, I keep on thinking the writing the letter task sounds like a GCSE English exam haha. How was the presentation and the group exercise, how can we prepare for them?

Hi everyone. It went really well, it was a very long afternoon (seriously, have loads of water on your desk!!) but enjoyable overall!!
I obviously can't tell you specifics about the assessment center but it was nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be.
Everyone was really kind (the NGDP staff and other candidates) and cooperative.
I found the written task the hardest but actually really enjoyed the group task and the individual task. Remember to speak a lot in the group task but also listen (the people I was with were really great and I think we did well :smile:

)
I would really really emphasise having a watch or a clock to keep an eye on the time as it goes quite fast. Obviously, keep going over the key behaviours.

I am also quite concerned about the written task, does it involve any maths/statistics..as we're required to have a calculator to hand?
how long was each task?
Did u prepare before hand other than the behaviours?
I don't know how to go around the preparation other than read about the general council structure and powers and the behaviours.

Please do not panic about the written task, I will just say that I didn't use my calculator.
Each task was roughly 45 minutes, with a little introduction.
I just looked through the behaviours and sort of practiced how to orally show that I could fulfill them. Other than that I didn't do a lot of prep!!

For the presentation task, do you have to prepare a presentation before the assessment centre or do you just get told what its on and then have time to prepare on the day? I only ask because for the treasury you did but i haven't seen anything about a specific topic or anything like that.

You have 30 minutes to prepare a presentation on the day. No PowerPoints just words and it’s all in relation to a specific document you get given at the time.

Thanks for responding, really great to hear it went well for you! I Can't wait until its over! Mines on Tuesday afternoon. Let's see how we get on. Not had anytime to prepare, yet. Going to try this w.end. I just hope I get through!

I got mine on the 6th of March (Monday) and my assessment was on the 8th. So you should have gotten yours before hand. And I’m skeptical that they work on weekends. You should chase up today, weekends, and early on Monday.
